Emergencies
When is it an emergency?
Parking lot and concrete work is scheduled, not dispatched as an emergency. It is booked to a date, since sealcoating and striping depend on the weather.
Water coming up through the pavement from a broken line goes out as plumbing, marked Emergency, and the paving over it is booked here once the line is fixed.
Licensing
What license does a vendor need in Florida?
General information, not legal advice.
Parking lot sealcoating and striping fall under no contractor category in s. 489.105 of the Florida Statutes. Section 489.117(4)(a)1 names driveway installation among the job scopes a city or county may not require a license for.
Accessible parking is governed by s. 553.5041. Section 553.5041(5)(c)1 says each accessible parking space must be at least 12 feet wide, with an access aisle at least 5 feet wide that is striped diagonally to designate it as a no-parking zone.
Section 553.5041(6) says each accessible space must be prominently outlined with blue paint, and repainted when necessary. It must be posted with a permanent above-grade sign bearing the international symbol of accessibility and the caption "PARKING BY DISABLED PERMIT ONLY," placed at least 60 inches above the ground to the bottom of the sign. A sign erected after October 1, 1996 must indicate the penalty for illegal use of the space.
Any Florida license can be checked by name or number on the state's Verify a Licensee search at myfloridalicense.com.
