What is included

Emergencies
When is it an emergency?
The request form treats a unit with no cooling or no heat at all as an emergency. There is no emergency response target yet: HQ calls back to say whether 1Stop can cover it, and a target is published once an approved vendor covers HVAC in the county.
A system that runs but struggles, with a resident affected and the unit still habitable, is urgent: same day. A planned replacement is scheduled work, booked to a date.
Licensing
What license does a vendor need in Florida?
General information, not legal advice.
Florida licenses air-conditioning work under section 489.105 of the Florida Statutes, in three classes. A Class A contractor has no size limit. A Class B contractor is limited to 25 tons of cooling and 500,000 Btu of heating in any one system. Class C covers servicing only, and Florida has issued no new Class C licenses since October 1, 1988. A mechanical contractor's license covers the same systems and more.
Duct cleaning and equipment sanitizing that require taking part of the system apart fall inside those licenses too.
A certified contractor can work anywhere in the state. A registered contractor can work only in the local jurisdiction its registration covers. Either kind can be checked by name or license number at myfloridalicense.com.
Any Florida license can be checked by name or number on the state's Verify a Licensee search at myfloridalicense.com.

Questions
Questions about HVAC.
Is a broken air conditioner an emergency?
When the unit has no cooling at all, yes. The request form treats no heat or no cool as an emergency, and HQ calls back to say whether 1Stop can cover it, since there is no emergency response target yet. A unit that cools poorly but is still habitable is urgent, which is same day.
What license does an HVAC contractor need in Florida?
An air-conditioning contractor license (Class A, B or C) or a mechanical contractor license, under section 489.105 of the Florida Statutes. A certified license is good statewide; a registered one only in the jurisdiction it was issued for.
Will 1Stop replace a unit without a diagnosis?
No. A no-cool call gets a technician and a cause before anyone proposes a new unit. Planned replacements are scoped and priced ahead of the swap.
