What is included

What does drywall and stucco repair cover?

  • Drywall sections cut out, replaced, taped, floated and sanded to a paintable finish.
  • Cracked, loose or spalled stucco patched and the texture matched to the wall.
  • Ceiling and wall repair after the source of the damage has been fixed.
  • Before and after photos attached to the job.

Emergencies

When is it an emergency?

Drywall and stucco repair is scheduled, not dispatched as an emergency. It is booked to a date once the damage is dry and the cause is dealt with.

Water coming through a ceiling or wall goes out as plumbing, roof repair or emergency restoration first, and the repair is booked afterward. A small hole or nail-pop patch stays with general maintenance.

Licensing

What license does a vendor need in Florida?

General information, not legal advice.

Section 489.117(4)(a)1 of the Florida Statutes says a city or county may not require a license for a job scope that does not substantially correspond to a contractor category in s. 489.105(3) or a certified specialty category. Among the job scopes it names are plastering and stuccoing.

Florida does have certified specialty categories for this work. Rule 61G4-15.100 of the Florida Administrative Code defines a plaster and lath specialty contractor and a gypsum drywall specialty contractor. Section 489.113(6)(a) says certified specialty categories exist as a voluntary statewide licensing category and do not create a mandatory licensing requirement.

Any Florida license can be checked by name or number on the state's Verify a Licensee search at myfloridalicense.com.
