Emergencies
When is it an emergency?
Screen enclosure repair is scheduled, not dispatched as an emergency. It is booked to a date that suits the property.
Damage that comes with it goes to its own trade: a roof damaged where the cage attaches goes out as roof repair, marked Emergency if water is coming in, and pool equipment goes to pool service.
Licensing
What license does a vendor need in Florida?
General information, not legal advice.
Florida's board has set up a certified structural aluminum or screen enclosures specialty. Rule 61G4-15.100 of the Florida Administrative Code describes its scope as any work involving aluminum screened porches, screened enclosures, pool enclosures and pre-formed panel-post and beam roofs. Section 489.113(6)(a) of the Florida Statutes says a certified specialty category exists as a voluntary statewide licensing category and does not create a mandatory licensing requirement.
Section 489.117(4)(a) of the Florida Statutes bars a local government from requiring a license for a job scope that does not substantially correspond to a state contractor category or a certified specialty. Because screen enclosures are a certified specialty, a city or county may still require a local license for the work.
A screen enclosure can serve as part of a residential swimming pool barrier. Section 515.29 of the Florida Statutes requires gates that give access to a residential pool to open outward away from the pool and be self-closing with a self-latching device, the release on the pool side out of a young child's reach. A residential pool is one at a detached one-family or two-family dwelling or a one-family townhouse not more than three stories high. This page makes no claim about the pools at apartment communities.
Any Florida license can be checked by name or number on the state's Verify a Licensee search at myfloridalicense.com.

Questions
Questions about screen enclosure repair.
Does a screen enclosure vendor need a license in Florida?
The state's structural aluminum or screen enclosures license is voluntary. Section 489.113(6)(a) of the Florida Statutes says certified specialty categories do not create a mandatory licensing requirement. A city or county may still require its own license under section 489.117(4)(a).
Do the pool barrier rules apply to a screen enclosure door?
At a residential pool, meaning one at a detached one-family or two-family dwelling or a one-family townhouse up to three stories, an enclosure can be part of the barrier. Section 515.29 of the Florida Statutes then asks that its access gate open outward, close by itself and latch by itself, with the release out of a young child's reach.
